That was the refrain from the beginning. Baby Margie was a chatty girl, but she was not merely the female version of her brother or half-brother.
A different personality
Margie did not perform affection on demand. She liked proximity, accepted cuddling on her terms, and watched the room with considerably more calculation than the average kitten.
She had her own method of summoning food, an excited little talismanic ritual that made perfect sense to Margie.

What I was trying to keep
Eastern European lines changed the size of Oriental Shorthair ears. The breeding problem is not simply to make the biggest ears possible. It is to preserve the ears while keeping length, muscle, balance, health, and a head that works as a whole.
A cat like Margie or Dozer is about perfect for what I am trying to do. That does not mean identical. It means a useful place on the continuum—neither low nor so extreme that the rest of the cat disappears.
Force Majeure goes to a show
UltraVires Force Majeure entered her first kitten show in January 2026.
She was tenth-best all breed in one ring and ninth-best kitten in another. Honestly great for five months, when she still had a kitten body.
At Del Mar she made no finals. That was fine. She was there so I could see how she behaved. No judges were bitten or scratched. The bar is not ordinarily set there, but it remains a useful data point.
Showing is assessment before it is decoration.
The office title
Margie kept going to rings. She also assumed an office position, which appears to involve blue light, a keyboard, and supervision of my ruthless production metric.
The show name is UltraVires Force Majeure. At home she remains Margie: reserved, bright, chatty on her own terms, and imperious enough to make the title sound less like exaggeration than a job description.
